V-Day 2011

Feminism, by definition, is "a social theory or political movement supporting the equality of both sexes in all aspects of public and private life." For some, this idea depicts radicals that many find annoying and over bearing. For others, these are the people who fight for equality to end violence. I learned this from my dear friend Annika as she introduced me to The Vagina Monologues.
Having heard of the books before, I had no idea that an entire production had been created and was performed around the world for people to see and become informed. I had the opportunity of going to such a production at Cal Poly which had been put on by the Gender Equality's Program on campus. All proceeds went towards the creator of The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler's project, V-day. If you click on the link, you will able to learn more about this amazing cause which I had the privilege of donating to. LS Photography became a sponsor of The Vagina Monologues production held on Cal Poly SLO campus. I donated a one hour session to be raffled off tonight during the play :) LS Photography was printed on the back of the pamphlets and written on a board thanking the sponsors! It was such an amazing feeling to see that and to see that I was able to provide something that can help make a difference to the millions of women suffering everyday worldwide.
I saw the show last night and I can say that it definitely was an experience! To see the actors portray different women from all aspects from society was so moving. I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed myself and learned so much. The show is open for just one more night this year BUT will be back next year if you are interested in attending!

Unveiled 2011

I had the privilege of being invited back to take photos of the second annual Unveiled Runway show! I felt so special when I arrived because I had my own place marker in the press pit :) In addition to the evening gowns and bridal gowns like last year's runway, Mira also included a few suits and a honeymoon collection.
This year was also the release of Mira's new bridal publication, Bridal Couture Magazine. There was extravagant parties before and after the runway show to highlight the debut complete with a photo booth, appetizers, and champagne. All viewers of the show also were given a gift bag complete with one of my mother's delicious cupcakes and a copy of the magazine.

My favorite dresses of the night!

The woman that made the night possible!
