Believe

This weekend's objective was to get some shots in that had fine details in their composition. The most common places to find these details are in nature and also in hair and eyelashes so I decided to combine these elements in a feminine, playful, and mystical photo series. With my friend Arielle's new pixie like haircut, I knew that we could make this concept work with a whimsical twist. I am very happy with the results of this session and am happy i was able to accomplish this with such an amazing model :)

After seeing a few movie stills from the most recent rendition of Pride and Prejudice, I became inspired by the colors and simplicity of the images and really wanted to do a shoot with the same

concept in mind. I also thought, being alone in a field would work perfect for an isolation assignment so I was happy that I had the chance to do this.

After editing two for my digital printing class, I was really happy with the feedback. I decided I am going to make a series with this same concept in mind. Same model, but different clothing and surroundings. Here are a few of my favorites. I hope you enjoy! Oh, and thank you Sarah for putting up with the rain and the cold for me! You are amazing and I look forward to the next half of the shoot :)

Isolation

These are two images I took with my new 50mm fixed lens of my best friend Sarah. I liked the outcome of the shoot and thought that these may work for my isolation assignment for visualization. This weekend I will be doing a continuation of this shoot because I really love the idea behind my shoot and would like to expand on it. I have other photos from this set that I used for my digital printing which got really good feed back so I will post those images soon!

Rae BayBay!

This is my friend Raeann who graciously allows me to use her as a model every time i'm in a jam and need a model for school projects. She is an amazing photographer who also has started an online magazine called webreathemusic.com so you should definitely check it out if you're into metal.

Objective/Subjective

For this weeks Visualization assignment, We had to take 2 photographs of the same object. One photograph was supposed to be shot with no history, emotion, no story. The other photograph was supposed to be the same object with a situation/emotion that we thought suited the object. Although this was not my first idea, I was very happy with the results! Plus, Arielle is just awesome and reminds me of Zooey Deschanel in the second image. Love you baby girl! Thanks for posing.

Fear

For my visualization class, I was told to design a photograph around the word fear. Deciding not to take the obvious train of thought associated with fear, I used a Bible verse to explain the context of my image.

Deuteronomy 6:13 'Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name'

Although I already turned this project in, I think that I am going to elaborate on it with two more ideas I had. I'll probably shoot those within the next week. Hope you enjoy!

OLM Concert Photos

The concert yesterday did not go as expected. Due to some permit problems, the concert was shut down before Miss May I was able to perform :(

But! On the bright side, my boys did AMAZING!!!! Our Living Memory rocked so hard that at one point the power went out which, to them, is the coolest thing that could happen while performing. This concert was also the first time they had their EP's available for purchase which was awesome for me because I FINALLY got a copy :)

Expect to see some more photos from these guys in the near future because I will be doing updated promo shots for them at the end of the month.

You guys were amazing last night! Thanks to everyone in the band especially Johnathan for letting me tag along and take photos.

Our Living Memory in -24 hours!!!

Tonight, I am brimming with anticipation because tomorrow night in Santa Cruz, I get to see these cool cats on stage for the first time in a year! With a new lead singer and a bunch of new gear, this will prove to be an amazing concert. Plus, they will be opening for Miss May I so no complaints there :) Check back for concert photos!
